Celstream's customer planned to launch a Set-Top Box (STB) in an emerging market and for this purpose, required a partner who was capable of handling the Development and Testing of the device drivers and the software. Celstream was entrusted with these responsibilities for the STB and was also required to perform the in-country validations. In a very short time-frame, Celstream was required to build a team that performed the above mentioned tasks required for the product launch and the post-product support.

One of the major technical challenges was to develop and port the driver software to the customer’s STB board from a reference board in a minimal timeframe. This could only be achieved by adhering to hardware driver interface of Middleware vendors. |

Celstream's team was responsible for executing and overseeing the project from the concept to the implementation stage. In addition, Celstream also supported product launch, manufacturing and provided field support. In minimal learning time, the team gained expertise in the functioning of various STB chipsets, thereby giving the customer the much needed time-to-market. The System Integration and Test strategy was fine-tuned to meet the aggressive timelines.
Some of the salient features of our team's response were:
- Driver development/porting for the STB
- Test suite development for validation of drivers
- Diagnostics software for factory.
- Porting of DVB-CI stack for different products
- Support during production with diagnostic software
- Memory optimization to add new applications such as interactive games
Usability was ensured through a scientifically designed, friendly graphical user interface. Context-sensitive Help files on all pages and links to useful tools and tutorials were included to enhance user experience.
Celstream's engineers took complete project ownership from concept to execution. Our team's design and implementation expertise, coupled with robust test strategies, enabled the end solution to exceed user expectations.
Celstream has continued to update its competencies in the Device Management arena. We have expanded our device management capabilities in the Consumer Premises domain by developing solution accelerators for TR-069 & DLNA. |
