The print industry is undergoing a rapid and tremendous change. Also, Customer demands and expectations are becoming greater by the day. In such a context, technology becomes a key enabler for improving productivity and garnering customer loyalty.
A prominent Print Service Provider felt the need to have an online Print Workflow Management solution, which would provide a streamlined and connected workflow for improving print production efficiencies. The need was for a solution which would enable users to print from their home and offices, get status of their print job and have the printed material delivered to them. The Print Service Provider wanted an online presence to enhance and expand his geographical reach. Further, the Web-To-Print solution was expected to help manage, control, layout and print the submitted jobs.

An effective and reliable Web-To-Print solution, required the development of a software that would simplify the end user's printing experience and provide them with similar controls and concepts that they use to print locally. The challenges involved in developing the solution were:
- Support different applications using a printer driver approach
- Offer secure access control and data transfer
- Faster release to market
- Leverage diverse technologies and domain competencies to build the solution
Since the solution was meant for geographically distributed users, an easy-to-use graphical user interface, based on sound usability principles had to be designed.

Working independently, Celstream's team of software engineers with deep competencies across Web technologies, database and security and with expertise in Print workflow and processes, developed a robust and scalable Web-To-Print solution. The salient features of the solution were:
- Modularized framework for integration with the existing infrastructure
- Submission of print jobs (PDF) using:
- a web page
- a specialized printer driver over the internet
- Preview of Jobs
- Password protection and encryption to ensure security
- Data compression for faster data transfer
- Manage, print and layout jobs using a web page
- Complete support documentation
We took complete project ownership from concept to execution. Using a flexible development methodology, our team designed a Web solution which gave users direct access to digital print services. The solution makes the job (available in any format) print ready by converting to a PDF. The soft proofing enables the user to preview the job before the final printing.
Our team's design and implementation expertise, coupled with robust test strategies, enabled the development of a completely scalable workflow solution that offers enhanced workflow efficiencies.
